Find the Mounting Approach for Your Roof

Start with your roof type. Whether you know the profile, need a standard kit, want help choosing components or already have a material list, we can assist with your mounting supply enquiry.

Concealed-fix solar mounting clamp on a Klip-Lok metal roof

Concealed fix

Klip-Lok and Concealed-Fix Metal Roofs

Concealed-fix mounting uses a clamp matched to the roof shape, for Klip-Lok, Saflok, Springlok, Craft-lock, Novotexi440 and standing-seam profiles. The clamp attaches without penetrating the roof sheet. Available rail and layout choices depend on the profile.

Pierced-fix short rail on an IBR roof

Pierced fix

IBR, Trapezoidal and Corrugated Roofs

Pierced-fix mounting fastens through compatible roof sheeting. Profile-specific short rails and full-rail interfaces provide options for portrait and landscape layouts, using the specified fasteners and sealing components.

Solar roof hooks and rails on a standard tiled roof

Substructure fix

Tiled, Slate, Shingle and Substructure-Fixed Roofs

Substructure fixing connects the mounting system to the supporting roof structure. Roof hooks, hanger bolts and brackets provide different routes for standard tiles, Harvey tiles, slate, shingles and relevant metal-roof applications.

Ballasted solar mounting on a flat concrete roof

Concrete roofs

Flat Concrete Roofs

Concrete-roof mounting includes ballasted and chemically anchored approaches, with portrait, landscape and East-West tilted arrangements. Roof capacity, waterproofing, layout and site wind conditions influence the selection.

Mounting choices

Understand Your Mounting Choices

Short rails and full rails

Short rails create local attachment points beneath the modules. Full rails extend beneath a row of modules and connect to the roof through the appropriate clamps or brackets.

Where both arrangements are available, the module dimensions, clamping zones and layout help determine the choice.

Flush and tilted mounting

Flush mounting follows the roof slope. Tilted mounting raises the modules to a selected angle using additional supports.

Tilt is available for documented roof and mounting combinations. A wind assessment is strongly recommended for tilted systems, and site location is required for tilted-structure enquiries.

Kits and components

Standard Kits and Larger Material Requirements

Standard kits

Standard kits bring together components for defined roof types, panel quantities and layouts. They are a convenient material arrangement for smaller installations and extensions. Kit options sit within the relevant roof pages, alongside their frame-size and layout requirements.

Larger projects

For larger projects or a different requirement, Lumax supplies components against your project requirement or existing material list. You can request a quotation directly. Selection assistance is available on request.

Technical information

Technical Information for Your Installation

Use the relevant Technical Data Sheets for product specifications and application information. The EPC is responsible for the project layout, roof suitability and structural-capacity assessment, installation and applicable sign-off. Installation must be completed by a competent installer in accordance with the project requirements, roof supplier requirements and module manufacturer instructions.

Lumax provides product and selection information. Engineering services are separately requested and agreed.

Questions

Rooftop Mounting Questions

Can I approach Lumax with an existing material list?

Yes. Send your material list and quantities for a supply quotation. If you need help selecting components, include the roof profile and panel details.

Does a standard kit suit any solar panel?

No. Each kit is specified for a defined layout and module frame thickness. Most kits suit 30 mm and 35 mm frames; the standard tile kits suit 35 mm frames as supplied, with an alternative mid clamp available for 30 mm frames. The module dimensions and manufacturer’s permitted clamping positions must suit the selected arrangement.

Do all rooftops need wind-load analysis from Lumax?

No. A Lumax wind-load analysis is not a condition of every rooftop material enquiry. For tilted systems, a site-specific wind-load assessment is strongly recommended, especially at high-wind sites. The tilted-system Technical Data Sheets recommend it to establish fixing spacing or ballast requirements.

Tell Us What You Need

  • Roof type or profile
  • Panel dimensions
  • Panel layout
  • Short or full rail and bracket preference, where alternatives exist
  • Site location (required for tilted structures)
  • Quantities or your existing material list

Site location is also helpful for general enquiries. Existing material lists can be sent directly for quotation.
