Alu-Max I-Beam

The cantilever arrangement reduces support interference around vehicles while providing an aluminium structural route. It is primarily used on inland projects. For very-high-wind sites, Lumax assesses alternative carport solutions against the project's wind requirements.

Design position

Confirmed Design Position

  1. Aluminium-based cantilever structure.

  2. Single-access, reverse-tilt and double-access configurations.

  3. Standard inclination of 10 degrees for single access and 8 degrees for double access.

  4. Target span of approximately 7.5 m, subject to project engineering.

  5. Positioned for corrosion applications up to C4.

  6. Primarily used on inland projects.

Corrosion suitability remains subject to the project environment, selected material and protection specification; the stated category is not a blanket product certification.

CP-02 · Alu-Max I-Beam parking configurations

Alu-Max I-Beam Configurations

How parking is served and which way the module plane faces. Support structure is product-specific and not drawn.

Alu-Max I-Beam supports single-access, reverse-tilt single-access and double-access configurations. The standard inclination is 10 degrees for single access and reverse tilt, and 8 degrees for double access. Module orientation is confirmed during project assessment.

Selection

Engineering-Led Selection

Alu-Max I-Beam is confirmed through engineering review. Lumax considers the project wind region, parking layout, vehicle movement, module, height, exposure, foundations and commercial requirements before confirming the product.

The final support arrangement, member sizes, foundations and connections are developed for the selected module and site. Module orientation is confirmed during project assessment.

Pillar or plinth

A raised concrete pillar at the column base.

Strip

Working in an existing paved parking area

Where the Carport is installed in an existing paved parking area, the surface will normally need to be opened for the foundations and reinstated afterwards. Responsibility for civil works and reinstatement is confirmed in the project agreement.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Alu-Max I-Beam?

Alu-Max I-Beam is an aluminium-based cantilever Carport. The final member specification is confirmed during project engineering.

Is Alu-Max I-Beam suitable for C5 exposure?

It is currently positioned for applications up to C4. Aluminium Econo-Max and aluminium H-Max are the confirmed standard C5 routes.

Can Alu-Max I-Beam be used on high-wind sites?

Suitability is project-specific, but Alu-Max I-Beam is not normally Lumax's preferred option for very-high-wind sites.

Which Alu-Max I-Beam configurations are confirmed?

Single access, reverse tilt and double access are confirmed, at 10 degrees for single access and reverse tilt, and 8 degrees for double access.

Does Alu-Max I-Beam support East-West?

East-West is not a confirmed Alu-Max I-Beam configuration. H-Max and Ergo+ offer East-West arrangements.

What is the Alu-Max I-Beam target span?

The target span is approximately 7.5 m, subject to project engineering. It is a design target, not a maximum.
