Follow the load path before choosing the fixing
Choose the fixing route that suits the roof and the design
A pierced-fix solution uses specified fasteners through the roof sheet. It must be matched to the profile and installed with the specified sealing arrangement. For example, the current LM-TBR-VL datasheet identifies a pierced-fix system with an integrated EPDM layer for its stated roof application. That product detail should not be generalised to a different bracket, fastener or roof profile.
Some projects require the connection to transfer directly into a supporting member below the sheet. This route demands reliable information about the supporting structure, accurate positioning and a weathering detail that suits the roof system. Coordination between the solar installer, roofing contractor and engineer can be valuable where existing details are uncertain.
A compatible clamp can attach to an appropriate concealed-fix seam without penetrating the sheet. This can support the roof’s weathering strategy, but only when the clamp geometry, seam and roof system are confirmed as compatible. Clamp position, tightening requirements and the roof manufacturer’s constraints remain important. Lumax lists solutions for several concealed-fix profiles, including the LM-KS-700-F for compatible Klip-Lok and Saflok roofing systems.
